Ribbed Extended Stitch

About this Stitch Pattern


This knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the ribbed extended stitch. This stitch is very similar to a four by four rib but uses drop stitches to create puffed out ribs. The ribbed extended stitch would be great to use any ribbed project, cowls, sweaters or hats!

Multiples of 8 + 4

Stitch Pattern Instructions


Cast On: Multiples of 8 + 4

    • Row 1: (right side) *P4, k4 (winding yarn round needle three times for each stitch); rep from * to last 4 sts, p4.
    • Row 2: K4, *Yf, slip 4 sts purlwise dropping extra loops off needle, yb, k4; rep from * to end.
    • Row 3: *P4, yb, slip 4 sts knitwise, yf; rep from * to last 4 sts, p4
    • Row 4: K4, *Yf, slip 4 sts purlwise dropping extra loops off needle, yb, k4; rep from * to end.

Repeat rows 1-4 until you have reached your desired length.

    I’M STILL VERY DISAPPOINTED EVEN THOUGH I LOVE THE SITE THAT I CAN NO LONGER PRINT OUT PATTERNS LIKE I USE TO. THERE WAS A PRINT TAB ON THE OLD SITE. PLEASE GET THAT BACK. WHAT CAN I DO NOW?
