The Simple Grill Pattern is a color work stitch uses slipped stitches to add a little variation to a traditional horizontal color strip pattern. It’s a great stitch if you are a beginner with color work and can be used in everything from socks to hats to scarves and blankets.

Stitch Pattern Instructions


Cast On: Multiples of 3 + 3

  • Row 1 (RS): Using color A, Knit
  • Row 2: Purl
  • Row 3: Using color B, K1, sl 1, *k2, sl 1; rep from * to last st, k1
  • Row 4: P1, sl 1, *p2, sl 1; rep from * to last st, p1

Repeat these 4 rows until you have reached your desired length.
