For this pattern you will need to know the following techniques:
Pattern:
Row 1: Knit all sts.
Row 2: K1, *sl 1 purlwise wyib, k1; rep from * to the last stitch, k1.
Row 3: Knit all sts.
Row 4: K2, *sl 1 purlwise wyib, k1; rep from * to the last stitch, k1
Repeat rows 1 – 4 until you have reached your desired length.
