How to Knit the Tweed Stitch :: Knitting Stitch #105

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the tweed stitch. This is a great pattern for beginner knitters to help move beyond the normal knit and purl stitch. It creates a pebble like textured fabric that’s great for scarves, bags, and even sweaters. It’s also a good stitch for menswear.

Skill: Easy
Cast On: Multiples of 2 + 1

TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS STITCH:
Knit – k
Purl – p
Slip Stitch – sl
Yarn Forward – yf
Yarn Back – yb

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1 (RS): P2, *yb, sl 1 purlwise, yf, p1; rep from * to last st, p1
Row 2: K1, *yf, sl 1 purlwise, yb, k1; rep from * to end

Repeat these 2 rows until you have reached your desired length.

After a few repeats your pattern should look like this:
