How to Knit the Simple Grill Pattern

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the simple grill pattern. This color work stitch uses slipped stitches to add a little variation to a traditional horizontal color strip pattern. It’s a great stitch if your a beginner with color work and can be used in everything from socks to hats to scarves and blankets.

Skill: Intermediate
Cast On: Multiples of 3 + 3

TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS STITCH:
Knit – k
Purl – p
Slip Stitch – sl

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1 (RS): Using A, knit

Row 2: Using A, purl

Row 3: Using B, k1, sl 1, *k2, sl 1; rep from * to last st, k1

Row 4: p1, sl 1, *p2, sl 1; rep from * to last st, p1

Repeat these 4 rows until you have reached your desired length.
