This pattern started as an experiment with shaping a hat using short rows. The result was far more interesting than I expected.
Sidewinder Free is a regular length, free version of our Sidewinder+ Slouchy Beanie. This hat is knit flat using short rows to create a unique reversible hat where garter stitch mimics ribbing.
And since it’s all knit stitches, it can be made in just a few hours. A perfect last minute gift!

Hola tendrás algún patterns en español o diagramas, perdón pero esto del inglés no se me da y me encanta tu página. Felicidades
If we had someone that can translate, that would be possible.
This is what the above message says.
“Hello would you have any patterns or diagrams in Spanish, sorry but I don’t understand this English stuff and I love your page. Congratulations. “
Thank you for translating. We do not have the resources to translate our content into Spanish.

How do I share this via Pinterest in order to download the pattern? I don’t see the ‘Pin to See’ button anywhere, just the Twitter and FB one… Thanks for your help – this pattern looks like a fun knit to keep up my sleeve for quick gifts, and I’d love to share it with others 🙂
We had to remove the pin to download function because the plugin stopped working.
Would really appreciate the Sidewinder Hat,but belong to neither Twitter nor Facebook.Would be delighted to add your information to either Knitting Paradise (has members from all over the world,as well as crocheters AND Machine Knitters. There is a great Forum there with new topic QD,as well as a great search machine!! Or else Ravelry?? Hope that will work for you!Really enjoy your daily emails and free tutorials.Couldn’t watch the last one-we had our 5th blizzard that day for March!!
We are very familiar with Knitting Paradise and the hat pattern is already on Ravelry (points to this page).
As we stated in the post, just email us and we’ll send you the pattern. You can use the contact form in the main menu, or just email us directly.
Hi Jonny,
I’m Paulo Domingos from Brazil. I’m musician and knitter too 🙂 I tried to knit this pattern but I think I’m doing something wrong. The top of the hat is not going like the photo and I didn’t understand the part of finishing (End 6th panel after W&T rows. Do not work the last 2 rows.Pick up CO row, remove waste yarn, graft with last row
picking up wraps as you go.Block, weave in ends)
Sorry for my bad english. If you can help me I’d be very glad.
Greetings from Brazil
Paulo
Hi Paulo. Can you be more specific about what exactly you do not understand. Thanks.
Hi Johnny, thank you for your reply
I’ll try to explain but my english is terrible (do you speak Spanish?)
I had dificulties finishing the hat (the invisible sewing) and I don’t know how to put the yarn trough the loops(points) to close the top of the hat. I hope you can understand me, and thank you very much for your attention.
Paulo
I’ll email you.
Thank you Johnny. I sent you back an e-mail.
Paulo.
