TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS STITCH:

Chain Stitch – Ch

Basic Forward Row- working into back loop only of each ch, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yo, draw loop through and leave on hook. Insert hook into next ch, yo, draw loop through and leave on hook. Rep this in each ch to end. Don’t turn. The number of loops on hook should equal the number of sts required for the 1st row.

Basic Return Row- Step 1: yo, draw through 1 loop, (this ch forms the edge st). Step 2: Yo, and draw through 2 loops. Step 3: Rep step 2 until 1 loop remains on hook. Don’t Turn. The loop left on the hook is the 1st st of the next row.

Tunisian Simple Stitch (Tss)- Insert hook from right to left behind single vertical thread. Yo hook. Draw through and leave on hook. Unless otherwise stated, the hook is always inserted in this way.

Tunisian Purl Stitch (Tps)- Step 1: Bring yarn to front, insert hook as for Tss. Step 2: Take your yarn to back of work and over hook (yo). Draw loop through and leave on hook. Step 3: Rep steps 1 and 2 in each st to end, return as Basic Return row.

Tunisian Double Crochet (Tdc)- ch 2 for the first st at beg of the row, yo and insert hook into the next st as if working a Tss. Yo and draw loop through, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, leave remaining loop on hook. Double crochet is completed when Return row is worked.

Skill: Intermediate
Foundation Chain:Multiple of 2 sts + 1.

Pattern Instructions

1. Row 1

   As Basic Forward and Return row.

2. Row 2

   with 1 loop on hook, *Tdc into next st, 1Tps into next st; rep from * to end. Return.

3. Row 3

   with 1 loop on hook, *work 1Tps into next st. 1Tdc into next st; rep from * to end. Return.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have reached your desired length.
