The Shells and Arches Stitch creates a lovely, lacy looking fabric with delicate, spaced out shells. It would be great for table coverings, stoles and scarves!

Foundation Chain: Multiples of 12 + 4

• Row 1: (Right Side) 2 dc in third ch from hook, *skip next 2 ch, 1 sc in next ch, ch 5, skip next 5 ch, 1 sc in next ch, skip next 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch (Shell), rep from * ending last rep with 3 dc in last ch, turn.
• Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in first st, * ch 5, 1 sc in the next ch-5 loop, ch 5, 1 sc into 3rd dc of next shell, rep from * across, ending with last sc in top of turning ch, turn.
• Row 3: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), *1 sc in next 5-ch loop, 5 dc in next sc (shell), 1 sc in next ch-5 loop**, ch 5, rep from * across, ending last rep at **, ch 2, 1 dc in last sc, turn.
• Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in first dc, *ch 5, 1 sc in 3rd dc of next shell, ch 5, 1 sc into next ch-5 loop, rep from * across ending with last sc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
• Row 5: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in first st, 8 1 sc in next ch-5 loop, ch 5, 1 sc in next ch-5 loop, 5 dc into next sc (shell), rep from * across, ending with 3 dc in last sc, turn.

Repeat rows 2 – 5 until you have reached your desired length.
