This crochet tutorial will help you learn how to crochet the granny rectangle stitch. This stitch creates a dense but delicate pattern. The granny rectangle stitch would be great for afghans, blankets, and baby blankets!
Note: To establish rounds, work round 1 on both sides of the foundation chain.
Round 1: [2dc, ch 2, 3dc, ch 2, 3dc] in 4th ch from hook, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, 1dc in each of next 3 ch, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, [3dc, ch 2, 3dc, ch 2, 3dc] all in last ch. Working on opposite side of foundation ch, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, 1dc in each of next 3 ch (these 3dc will correspond with 3dc already established on 1st side of ch), ch 2, skip next 2 ch, join with a Sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Round 2: ch 3, *ch 2, [3dc, ch 3, 3dc, ch 2] in the next 2 ch 2 spaces (2 corners made), [3dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2] twice, rep from * once, 2dc in last ch 2 sp, join Sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Round 3: ch 3, 2dc in same ch 2 space, ch 2, *[3dc, ch 3, 3dc] in next ch 2 space (corner), ch 2, 3dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, [3dc, ch 3, 3dc] in next ch 2 space (corner), [ch 2, 3dc] in each of next 3 ch 2 spaces, ch 2, rep from * once, omitting last [3dc, ch 2], join Sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Round 4: ch 3, *ch 2, [3dc, ch 3, 3dc, ch 2] in the next 2 ch 2 spaces (2 corners made), [3dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2] twice, rep from * once, 2dc in last ch 2 sp, join Sl st to top of beg ch 3, end off.
