How to Crochet the Double Triple Crochet Stitch

The double triple crochet stitch is a crochet technique that creates a fabric with long posts separated by large eyelets. It is kind of a crazy stitch to perform but it can be useful in making embellishments and openwork.

Also known as: double treble crochet.

Skill: Intermediate

Pattern Instructions:

Step 1: Wrap your yarn over your crochet hook three times, going from under, to around, and then over.

Step 2: Take your crochet hook and insert into the next stitch in your row.

Step 3: Wrap your yarn over your crochet hook. Pull the yarn through the first stitch with the crochet hook. You should now have five stitches on your crochet hook.

Step 4: Wrap your yarn over your crochet hook. Pull the yarn through the first two stitches with the crochet hook. You should now have four stitches on your crochet hook.

Step 5: Wrap your yarn over your crochet hook again. Pull the yarn through the next two stitches with your crochet hook. You should now have three stitches on your crochet hook.

Step 6: Wrap your yarn over your crochet hook once more. Pull the yarn through the next two stitches with your crochet hook. You should now have two stitches on your crochet hook.

Step 7: Wrap your yarn over your crochet hook one last time. Pull the yarn through the last two stitches with your crochet hook.

Repeat steps 1 – 7 until you have reached your desired number of stitches.

To continue your double triple crochet on your next row chain five, then turn your work and begin your next triple crochet stitch in the sixth stitch of your new row.
