Adding a New Ball of Yarn

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to add a new ball of yarn to your knitting. There are many ways to incorporate a new ball of yarn when you run out of one. This is our favorite.

Skill: Beginner

Instructions:

Step 1: Work a couple of stitches in from the end of your project. Leave 12 – 18 inches of your tail.

Step 2: Take the tail of the new ball of yarn and hold it with the tail from your project. Make sure the tails are going opposite directions from each other.

Step 3: Work a few more stitches holding both strands of yarn together.

Step 4: Continue working with the new strand, leaving 6 – 8 inches of your old tail

Note: Be careful to work both strand together as one during the next row.

When you ready, weave both tails into the project.
