How to Knit The Seed Stitch :: Knitting Stitch #8

The Seed Stitch is a basic knitting pattern that is a great way to add texture to a project. It’s alternating of knitting and purling plays with other stitch patterns well and is a good pattern for borders.

Also known as: moss stitch.

Skill: Beginner

Cast On: Multiples of 2

For this pattern you will need to know the following techniques:

Knit – k

Purl – p

Pattern:

Row 1: *k1, p1,* rep from * to end.

Row 2: *k the purls, purl the knits,* rep from * to end.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have reached your desired length.

After a few repeats your pattern should look like this:
