False Flame Stitch

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the false flame stitch. This stitch creates an interesting multi-colored pattern. The false flame stitch would be great for afghans, baby blankets, and hats!

K Knit Stitch

P Purl Stitch

Cast On: Multiple of 4 sts +1. Colors A and B.

1. Prep 1

   (Wrong Side) Color A: Purl.

2. Prep 2

   Color A: Knit.

3. Prep 3

   Color A: P2, *p1 wrapping yarn twice, p3; rep from *, end last rep p2.

4. Row 4

   Color B: K2, *sl 1 wyib dropping extra wrap, k1, insert needle into next st 2 rows below and draw through a loop loosely; knit next st and pass the loop over the st just knitted; k1; rep from *, end sl 1 wyib, k2.

5. Row 5

   Color B: P2, *sl 1 wyif, p3; rep from *, end sl 1 wyif, p2.

6. Row 6

   Color B: Knit.

7. Row 7

   Color B: P2, *p1 wrapping yarn twice, p3; rep from *, end last rep p2.

8. Row 8

   Color A: K2, *sl 1 wyib dropping extra wrap, k1, insert needle into next st 2 rows below and draw through a loop loosely; knit next st and pass the loop over the st just knitted; k1; rep from *, end sl 1 wyib, k2.

9. Row 9

   Color A: P2, *sl 1 wyif, p3; rep from *, end sl 1 wyif, p2.

10. Row 10

    Color A: Knit.

11. Row 11

    Color A: P2, *p1 wrapping yarn twice, p3; rep from *, end last rep p2.

Repeat rows 4-11 until you have reached your desired length.
