The Twelve Days of Christmas Ornaments – Part 2: This Week in Stitches

This week in stitches features…

  • Helping Shooting Victims
  • The Subscriber of the Week
  • The 12 Days of Christmas Ornaments – Part 2
  • and all of this week’s stitches

If you just can’t wait for This Week in Stitches each week, and you want even more fun, interesting links than the few we highlight here, follow @newstitchaday on Twitter or join our Facebook page. It’s painless. Really.

I turned 30 on Saturday. Lacie and I were able to spend the night away and enjoyed some much needed alone time. It’s nice to recharge just before spending the next few days with family.

Sunday we celebrated the holiday with my mom’s side of the family. We ate tamales and got caught up with relatives I only see a couple times a year. All in all it was a nice time.

But all I really wanted to do was work on the special surprises I have for all of you. We’ve got some fun stuff coming in the next few days and I can’t wait for you to see!

There’s lots more great stuff below, so check out our pattern finds, announcements, and all of last week’s stitches.

Don’t forget to answer our question of the week at the end of the post!

Welcome to Our New Email Subscribers

It’s been a week since our last update and we had another 364 people coming on board the New Stitch a Day email list! We’re very excited to welcome you to the NSAD family!

Great job to all of you who are telling your friends about the site on Twitter, Facebook, Ravelry, Knitting Paradise, Pinterest, and at your local yarn stores. Keep up the good work!

Preview of Knitting Helpline

Like I said, I turned 30 a couple days ago, but rather than running a sale to celebrate I thought I’d do something else.

We’re giving you a sneak preview of our new show Knitting Helpline!

Our first guest is Anne Hanson of Knitspot.com. She’s a prolific knitwear designer and a world renowned teacher. It was a blast answering your knitting questions with her and I’m so excited for you to see the result!

We’ll start weekly episodes beginning in January but enjoy watching this sneak preview.

Show and Tell!

I got a lot of photos from people of their projects so let me share them with you. (Click the images for a larger version)

1. Theresa knit the beautiful Huruni Shawl!

2. Nikole crocheted this lovely modern take on an afghan!

3. Donna used a NSAD video to create this great hat!

4. Ana crocheted an adorable little dragon!

Subscriber of the Week

This week’s subscriber of the week is Cheryl from Washington!

Cheryl knitted this full length cotton robe!

Since we had never seen a knitted robe before we decided to make her subscriber of the week!

Please congratulate Cheryl in the comments!

What do you most hope to get for Christmas?

Actually, I already received one of presents early – I got a now 11 month old kitten from my daughter. I don’t really need much as I retired this year and have just about everything that I need.

What I want for Christmas (which I will get) is spending all day with my son and daughter and her 2 sons. Watching the 5 year old opening his presents is such a joy.

    Merry Christmas everyone!!!

For those who are interested in my robe pattern, it’s a very simple kimono pattern using the eyelet stitch for decoration…I’ll try to post the details as soon as I figure out how to do that…and thanks for all the congratulations…I really appreciate it.
