Super Stretchy Slipknot Cast On Knitting Tutorial

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the super stretchy slipknot cast on. This method of starting a project is great for ribbing and has an incredible amount of stretch, making it perfect for cuffs on socks and sleeves as well as hats.

Skill: Intermediate

Instructions:

Step 1: Holding the tail of your yarn and your knitting needle in your dominant hand, twist your working yarn with your other hand to make a loop.

Step 2: Place the loop on your knitting needle and hold it open with your thumb and forefinger.

Step 3: Take your knitting needle and pick up the working yarn and pull it through the loop, letting the loop come over the edge of the needle.

Step 4:Tighten down the slipknot on your needle.

Repeat steps 1 – 4 until you have cast on the number of stitches required by your pattern.

After a few repeats your cast on should look like this:
