New Stitch a Day Rewind: How to Knit The Shell Lace Stitch

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the shell lace stitch. This pattern is a wonderful and simple curving stitch that will add an extra level of dimension to any knitting pattern. It is a great pattern to learn for beginner lace knitters.

Drape: Excellent
Skill Level: Intermediate
Cast On: Multiples of 11 + 1

For this stitch you will need to know the following techniques:
knit – k
purl – p
yarn over – yo
knit two together – K2tog
slip stitch – sl
pass slip stitch over – psso
slip slip knit – ssk

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1 (WS) and all WS Rows: Purl.

Row 2: K2tog, *k5, yo, k1, yo, k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Row 4: K2tog, *k4, yo, k3, yo, k1, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Row 6: K2tog, *k3, yo, k5, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Row 8: K2tog, *k2, yo, k1, yo, k5, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Row 10: K2tog, *k1, yo, k3, yo, k4, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Row 12: K2tog, * yo, k5, yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Repeat these 12 rows until you have reached your desired length.

After a few repeats your pattern should look like this.
