How to Knit the Ridged Rib Stitch

This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the ridged rib stitch. This reversible broken rib style pattern creates a waffle like texture that is useful when making blankets, bags, hats, scarves, and mittens. It can even be used for the cuffs of socks.

Skill: Beginner

Cast On: Multiples of 2 + 1

For this pattern you will need to know the following techniques:

Knit – k

Purl – p

Pattern:

Row 1: Knit all stitches.

Row 2: Knit all stitches.

Row 3: P1, *k1, p1; rep from * to end.

Row 4: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end.

Repeat rows 1 – 4 until you have reached your desired length.

After a few repeats your pattern should look like this:
