I know, I know. It’s not March, but we had a lot going on the last few months. The good news is the April square will be out by the end of the week. In the meantime you can have fun knitting this square!
The New Stitch a Day Afghan Knit-and-Crochet-a-Long is a year long project that will challenge you to try out some of the patterns we have here on the site. Each month we will alternate between a knitted and a crochet pattern and turn it into a 12″x12″ square. At the end of the year you will have 12 (or more) unique afghan squares you can use to make a beautiful blanket.
The March New Stitch Afghan Knit-a-long square consists of a raise diamond pattern, which uses simple knits and purls to create a nicely textured fabric.

When do we get another square please
Johnny Vasquez
probably in a couple weeks. We’ll be doing the squares a little differently in 2013 so look out for that announcement.

I am new to Stitch-a-day and do find your tutorials very helpful and especially easy to follow. Are we able to print the pattern square for the month?
Johnny Vasquez
You can print the page or copy and paste, but we do not have a specially formatted pattern just for printing.

Hi,
I just finished doing the Jan 2012 knit-a-long square but now i’m stuck. I’m new to knitting and still need to try to learn how to crotchet. I decided to do the march 2012 knit-a-long but don’t understand what RS stands for. Could you let me know what that means? Thank you!
Johnny Vasquez
It means right side.
Judi
How does one print the patterns for the squares? I can’t get the complete directions.
Johnny Vasquez
We do not have a special print function. You may need to copy and paste for now until we implement a better system for printing.
