TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS STITCH:
Knit – k
Knit two together – k2tog
Yarn over – yo
Pattern Instructions:
Note: This pattern is completely reversible.
Row 1: k1, *yo, k2tog; rep from *to last st, k1
Repeat this row until you have reached your desired length.
After a few repeats your pattern should look like this:

It should but you may need to reverse the stitches in the second row.

I have to correct you on the name for this stitch. It is actually spelled “Fagot”, based on the original meaning of the word (i.e. a bundle of sticks). The spelling “faggot” is a derogatory term for gay men. Thanks for your attention to this.

There are multiple books and online resources, including the Barbara Walker Treasury, that show this to be the correct spelling. We merely used the terminology that was presented in our resources.
I am aware of the connotation of the word, but the stitch has been spelled like this for much longer than the word has been used in a derogatory way.
I will trust that visitors to the site will recognize that in this context there should be nothing demeaning associated with it. Thanks for your input.
