This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the guernsey cast on. This method of starting a project is a decorative cast on traditionally used when making Guernsey sweaters. It consists of a series of knots connected by short strands of yarn that make small eyelets along the edge of your work.

Instructions:

Step 1: Create a slip knot and place it on your knitting needle.

Step 2: Using the Single Cast On method, add a new stitch to your knitting needle.

Step 3: Take your other knitting needle, and slip the second stitch over the first stitch.

Step 4: Using the single cast on method, place two more stitches on your knitting needle.

Step 5: Take your other knitting needle, and slip the second stitch over the first stitch.

Repeat steps 4 – 5 until you have cast on the number of stitches required by your pattern.

After a few repeats your cast on should look like this:
