Subscriber of the Week

This week’s subscriber of the week is Fiza from India.

Fiza is a new subscriber who joined us last week. She sent me some of her really nice scarves, but I was most impressed by the sweater she mad for her niece.

Fiza was a little self conscious about her work but I think she’s doing a great job. Be sure to give her some encouragement in the comment!

If you want to be considered for the subscriber of the week, send some photos of your work to johnny[at]newstitchaday[dot]com.

Question about Photos in Emails

I’ve been a lot of questions about there no longer being photos in the daily emails.

We won’t be putting photos in the emails any more. When we started including a photo our click through rate plummeted which is an important stat for selling advertising, which is one of the ways we are able to provide our content for free.

We also were not getting as many people coming to the site which is another important stat for selling ads.

I realize many of you feel it is more convenient to have the photo in the email but the purpose of the email update is to notify subscribes of something new on the site. So we really want you to come to the site to see it.

There is always a photo or two on the page for the stitch, so you don’t have to watch the video to decide if you want to do it. There are also written instructions for each stitch.

I hope you all understand.

Special Announcement! New Show!

We are starting a new show here at New Stitch a Day called Knitting Helpline. You will have an opportunity to ask questions from the fiber arts industry leading experts on topics like crocheted toys, knitting lace, and fixing mistakes.

But we need your help!

We need questions to answer. So send in your knitting or crochet questions to helpline[at]newstitchaday[dot]com and we will consider it for the show. We need lots of questions so feel free to ask more than one.

We hope to launch the show sometime next month!

Your Turn: Who is your favorite Superhero and why? Batman? Hulk? Spiderman? Wonder Woman?

Love your site!!! I just started knitting in January… I’m officially addicted!!! Hey it’s cheaper than therapy right? I enjoy all the videos – can’t wait try all the different stitch patterns:) I have been wrestling with tension issues, so this week I really appreciated the How to Tension your Knitting video.
I’m going to pick Wonder Woman as my super hero. It’d be fun to knit the sweater you’ve pictured! Might be the closest I’ll come to waking up with 24 inch waist & a brass bra;) Much appreciation to you – you’ve created an awesome resource!

Gosh, you are entertaining! I’m partial to Ironman, by the way. I know this isn’t a common word,  but a mus’-teh-lid is a family of animals that includes ferrets and otters. I want to do some mustelid themed knitting and crocheting. :-D Your site is terrific!

Cant wait for the new show Knitting Helpline it will be neat to see the questions…
.Hey what about two New Super Heroes Knitwoman and Purlman but now what would be their Special Powers…..thoughts anyone?

    May 9, 2012

Wow! a new help line just can’t wait. I have a question already for you. Is the horizontal st and the horizontal herringbone st the same or are the different and how are each done? I know you have the herringbone st tutorial but a pattern came up that calls for a hs that isn’t the herringbone st. As for super heros go it would have to be Thor.

    May 9, 2012

On the super hero note, I wouldn’t be a hero I’d be the super villain :) Probably cat woman!

I love Batman and Superman. My son (32 y.o) always has on his Batman or Superman attire: socks, underwear, tee shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts. It was a pleasure watching your video, in your Batman sweatshirt, it was quite informative.

Congratulations Fiza! on “subscriber of the week.”
