When I was courting my wife I tried really hard to be romantic. I once made her a European Survival Kit for a 3 week trip she was taking over the summer. It included things like a mix CD with a bunch of love songs, a journal she could use to write me about her travels, and a Johnny action figure complete with 6 interchangeable faces.

As many of you can relate, once you’re married and real life together begins, romance is a little harder to maintain. But this Valentines day I have to say I did a pretty good job.

Our local Chick-fil-a had couples night! There was a host waiting to seat us, the booths had black table cloths and candles, and there was an old lady playing cheesy love songs on a keyboard. It was great! We had so much fun and I must say, Chick-fil-a tastes better on a plate.

Afterward we went to the movies and saw The Vow. It’s a sappy chick flick but I still enjoyed it. While Lacie was at work I prepared our apartment with some rose petals, champagne, and battery operated candles (our building is old and real candles aren’t allowed). When we got home she was very impressed.

I can’t say I remember too many Valentines day’s but this one will probably be on our all time best list.
